Der Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst dient der Förderung des akademischen und wissenschaftlichen Austauschs. Hierbei handelt es sich um die weltweit größte Organisation zur Finanzierung internationaler Mobilität in der Wissenschaft. Der DAAD als Verein repräsentiert 241 deutsche Universitäten und Hochschulen und es gibt über 500 Vertretungen des DAAD in fast 100 Ländern der Welt. Momentan ist der DAAD mit einer Außenstelle in Rio de Janeiro, einer Beratungsstelle in São Paulo, DAAD-Lektoren an sieben brasilianischen Bundesuniversitäten, dem Martius-Lehrstuhl an der Universität von São Paulo sowie einem Netzwerk von Ortlekoren an verschiedenen brasilianischen Hochschulen in Brasilien vertreten.

Außenstelle Rio de Janeiro

Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 1972 ist die Außenstelle des DAAD in Rio de Janeiro für die Koordination von Stipeandien für brasilianische Bewerber, die gemeinsame Auswahl geeigneter Kandidaten und Zusammenarbeit mit brasilianischen Agenturen sowie die Organisation und Teilnahme an Messen und Beratung zu Studium und Forschung in Deutschland zuständig.

Beratungsstelle São Paulo

Der DAAD bietet Beratung in São Paulo an zwei Standorten an: im Goethe-Institut (Pinheiros) und im Deutschen Wissenschafts- und Innovationshaus (Chácara Santo Antônio).
